Death is so appealing because to experience it results in the end of infinity.

It is a definite end to everything you have every known.

I think this is what scares people about death,

the thought of this succession of twenty four hours ceasing to exist.

They think of what they may miss out on,

they think of the existence of the world continuing without them.

They think about their place within the collective world,

they think about the fact that is in a one-person journey.

Death is so appealing because of this ending.

Tomorrows stop coming,

you simply stop being.

The lust for death is not a suicidal thought,

it is not something I wish for now, or tomorrow, or anytime soon.

The lust for death is the mystery,

the wonders of the unfathomable end of tomorrows.

I think of how it feels when the light leaves the eyes.

I imagine it like turning off the light in the old dusty shed,

the lag between the flip of the switch in which the residual energy lingers,

and the light fades slowly before flickering out all together.

I think of the fullness of that last breath.

I imagine it like inhaling heavily on a cold winter day,

in which your lungs are chilled and your body expands from within,

and the exhale leaves you numb.

I think of the weight that is no longer felt.

I imagine every muscle letting go,

like drifting weightless in the water without ever feeling

the heaviness afterwards.

Death is so appealing because it is poetic,

it is this life’s greatest mystery,

and it is an experience that only I will feel.

Death is so appealing because it is

the final experience…

and then it all ends,

and it continues forever.
